3d printable aluminium extrusion inspired models.
Beam
A 3D-printed answer to 1515 aluminium extrusion. Print beams and corner connectors, bolt them together with M3 screws, and build modular jigs, stands and shelves without a single piece of metal.
What's included
- Basic components - 1515-style beams in many lengths and corner/straight connectors.
- Finished Things - a cube, laptop stand, round shelf, monitor foot raiser, and 1kg/2.3kg/4kg spool holders.
- FreeCAD sources and STLs.
The build
Print the beams and connectors, then run M3 screws through the connector holes into the beam ends. The system is all dovetails and screw holes, so a spool holder is a few beams, a slider block and two couplers. Printed beams flex a little under a 4kg spool, so the frame is sized for it.
