A sunrise clock that wakes you gently instead of with a beep. SK6812 LEDs ramp up to simulate dawn while an I2S mono amp plays soft sounds. Three displays and big tactile buttons make it usable even first thing in the morning. This is a forever-project. It will probably never be finished.
What's on the boards
- Two KiCad designs - a main board and a display board.
- An ESP32, DS3231MZ RTC and AT24C512C EEPROM.
- A BME280 and an MCP23017 expander.
- SK6812 LEDs and an I2S mono amplifier.
The wake sequence
The wake sequence is slow by design. At alarm time the ESP32 drives the SK6812 strip from near-black to warm white over many minutes, while the I2S amplifier plays sound. The DS3231MZ keeps time. I skipped the touchscreen; big buttons work when you are half asleep.
